Im sorry but Nagato is far stronger than Itachi confirmed by Kishimoto, the Manga and general common sense.

itachi has a chance to win with max intel while nagato has basic manga intel. no intel(manga intel) nagato wins low/mid diff.

The deadliest thing about nagato is not necessarily his arsenal; it's not knowing about his arsenal. That's what really messes you up since you basically waste all your chakra just figuring out his abilities before you can even begin to do real damage.
