(This is not character bashing just an analysis of Minato as a Hokage and I apologize for not having pictures)

First off I would like to start off with that Minato is indeed a gifted genius that would give any character in the series a run for their money and I mean ANY character. His fighting skills really cant be matched others like the majority of Akatsuki wouldnt be able to go toe to toe with this beast. All his intelligence is focused on how to defeat a current enemy and he will prevail wether the enemy is a whole army or a villages Kage. And he can do all this alone or as how NB has coined the term "solo". What kind of Hokage could no be able to solo at least another Kage of other villages? A hokage that doesnt deserve his title thats who. Again his fighting skills are above supernatural within the Naruto Universe.

However THIS is the very reason why he is not good as Hokage. Now dont get confused Im about to explain why his fighting abilities actually hurt him. A great Hokage has to ALSO be a great leader not just a great fighter. One that can coordinate strategies and have people follow his orders. This is not just to win the battle but also lessen the amount of lost lives in the battlefield. Minato is not one of these people however surprising that might be to you. Minato only takes the whole battle by himself and tries to win all on his own. You might be asking, What is the harm in that? Isnt he strong enough to protect everyone? . . . . And I tell you that he is strong to protect everyone. . . . everyone thats around his area. Take for an example when Kakashi first showed off his Raikiri to Minato in the Gaiden arc. Wasnt Minato able to protect Kakashi from all kunais directed at him and wasnt he fast enough to shove Kakashi out of being stabbed with a sword? He was wasnt he. But hold on where was Minato when Rin got taken by those ninja in Gaiden arc. Ill tell you where he was. He was out there trying to solo the whole opposing army of the.of the Third Great Ninja War.

He always tries to solo everything that he can and almost never asking for help. He tries yo save everyone from immediate danger. Thats how he always led when he was a squat leader and thats what he did when he became Hokage. In his mission with Kakashi, Rin, and obito-didnt he just save the whole team whenthey came under attack? And what about the part where he defeats the whole army by himself? Isnt it the same thing he did when the Nine tailed attacked the village? He took the nine tails away from the village so he could have a one on one fight instead of joining his forces with the third Hokage and taking them head on.

Se what Im trying to say is that a Hokage is more than just someone that can fight really well but also someone that can lead other ninja to fight. Just look at the current war arc, who is the one character that has done more than anyone inthe whole war against the juubi? That would be Shikamaru. Hes the one that sets up every attack and makes the stategy right on the spot against a beast theyve never foughthi before. He is the one coordinating all attacks from all villages at the same time to just incapacitate the juubi. Shikamaru hj showed more leadership skills than Naruto, Minato, Raikage, Tsunade, Sasuke put together. If there is anyone that deserves the title Hokage that would be Shikamaru. He does not have the same fighting capabilities as Minato but he makes it up with intelligence and charismaThat is the reason why Minato is a great Hokage but not a splendid one.

just wanted to let you know you logic makes no sense whatsoever since any character with sizeable power in the manga does the exact same thing

he took on the kyuubi and tobi on at once to protect the village and his family. that is a hokage.

he had duties to protect his shonobi and his family. not to mention his students in the time of war. you're whole essay on how he wasn't a good hokage was destroyed. wonder what fail genjutsu you were in.

minato is the 3rd smartest of all kages ever maybe 2nd after huirzen and maybe tobirama... and I'm talking about other villages Garra fights by himself... the Raikages fight by themselves... And Kakashi was a Jonin and suppose to be capable of leading a squad

Now this is what I call a serious logical fallacy. Do you think Minato should have let Kyuubi stay in the village and kill half the civilians so he can team up with the third and thereby save his own ass? Had he done that when he could have given up his life and saved hundreds or thousands, then people would refer to him as a selfish bastard and not as a hero.

Then again, did you not properly watch Kakashi Gaiden? At that time, Kakashi was the leader and not Minato. Also, Kakashi's team had a mission of destroying some damn bridge or something, and Minato had to prevent the other village from having an overwhelming advantage against the leaf, or the war would have been lost cause. The way you put it, you're giving Kakashi, Rin and Obito's lives more priority than the unknown shinobi and civilians, which in itself is contradicting the entire purpose of being a shinobi, not to mention a wannabe hokage. He had to choose the greater good. A shinobi is one who endures, one who is ready to make sacrifices. Had Minato stayed with Kakashi and the others, who knows what that other village (kiri, was it?) would have done to Konoha.

i have to disagree with this with you for one there isnt enough evidence to support that minato wasnt a splendid hokage seeing how he only was hokage for a short time.
a hokage has to protect the village at all cost which he did your basically putting minato down for doing something

minato took the kyuubi away from the village so no civilians would be hurt and he had a plan for the kyuubi and he acted on it as a hokage
and the stuff with the kakashi gaiden stuff minato left obito and rin to kakashi which shows minatos trust in them and kakashi was a jonin and minato cant babysit kakashi, rin and obito all his life seeing how they are shinobi and its there job to follow orders
minato went to back up his fellow shinobi who where out numbered also minato would have been given orders to assist them seeing how he is probably the most capable jonin of his time from the leaf

shikamaru is a strategist at best he would better serve as a consultant then a hokage and the hokage doesn't have to be able to do everything thats why a village consists of different ranking ninja with unique skills and all the hokage has to do is give the final say and keep the village protected

I read the entire thing expecting till the end that you'll say something which will do justice to your thread title but no.... You didn't.... Minato as you say tries to solo and that makes him a not so good Hokage/Leader is wrong.... I think if a Shinobi has the capacity to deal with the enemy on his own then he should not include other Shinobi's and avoid unnecessary casulties.... =D =D
