People overate Minato so much it really pisses me off. FTG is not the most powerful, bestest, awsomest, most unbeatabalist jutsu in the Naruto universe. Itachi has the sharingan and could see were all the seals for the FTG are so he wouldnt be easily surprised. Itachi has good speed and great reflexes so he certainly isn't helpless without the protection of susanoo. Plus Minato would have to avoid Amaterasu, Tsokuyomi, and the Totsuka sword. All of these things are 1 hit KO's for Minato. Bottom line is Minato has nothing to counter the MS techs, susanoo in particular, besides running away.

the best way to counter FTG is to be faster, Itachi's base speed is probably equal to minato's so i say they both have a fair chance and Itachi's sharingan can predict movements so he probably has upper hand

He outlasts Itachi with FTG. Itachi cannot keep up his impenetrable Susanoo defence for a long time because it simply uses up too much chakra. The moment Itachi is too tired, BOOOOM! Minato uses the simple Rasengan, FTG combo. So simple yet so, so effective.

Itachi has no way to hit Minato because of his FTG. Minato has a way to hit Itachi. Itachi's techniques use alot of chakra. Minato's techniques do not use alot of chakra. You work it out.

Alot of people will be unhappy with this. Heck, they'll probably even -rep me for this. LMAO. They probably think this is too easy for Minato; that's because it is. I know it's annoying that such cheap tricks can be so effective, that's why so many people have a hard time accepting the blatent, yet painful truth. Do you see now? Not every analysis of a battle has to be so complicated. When it comes to shinobi like Minato, the obvious answer is most likely the correct one.

Firstly - Itachi's Sword of Totsuga is so fast that Nagato literally was staring at it across a valley the size of several mountains (destroyed) and didn't realize it hit him until afterwards - it is the fastest move in the manga (except for instantaneous self-activated seals that are faster than FTG, or possibly Naruto's teleportation) and has nearly unlimited range. Combined with the fact that Itachi has great sensory abilities from his ring which detects seal activations (FTG tags useless) and his vision, this makes any conflict quick and easy.

Secondly, Itachi can implant techniques into shuriken to be thrown, and split into multiple crows, further countering any of Minato's abilities.

Thirdly, Minato and Itachi are two of the four fastest characters in the manga, the fight would not last long enough for either of them to wear the other out of chakra.

Minato will never defeat Itachi plain and simple. This thread sucks. Itachi clan block Minatos kunai so he will never be in range just like he did in Sasukes fight. Itachi can easily throw any genjutsu at Minato via Tsyukomi or whatever. IF Minato avoids his eyes he won't be able to fight back. You fail sir.

Minato has never fought a sharingan user this is a massive disadvantage as itachi is like...BEASTLY with the sharingan the sharingan will also help itachi track minato's movements. how will minato stop susanoo he can run all he wants but there is NO WAY he is going to be able to destroy susanoo. Totsuka sword is all it takes for itachi to win.

Itachi's Taijutsu is also incredible he was able to go head to head with Rikudō mode naruto as were Kisame fused with Samehada started gushing blood after one hit. While Itachi was fightning naruto killer bee did try to swing at him while his back was turn and stilled missed, Killer continued fightning Itachi with that same 7 sword attack which even sasuke couldn't go against which itachi easily dodged.

For people who says "Amaterasu and over",
Minato can teleport from Amaterasu, pretty simple.

Why?

Because the moment Amaterasu hits something it becomes a physical essence, as it has been shown in the manga and anime. FTG allows Minato to teleport anything within contact or chose not to. For example, he teleported with Naruto, Kushina and Kyubi, but when Tobi had physical contact with him, Minato teleported away without taking him along.

So yeah, Amaterasu is not a problem to discuss, though Susano'o isn't either. Flying Thunder God allows the user to teleport anywhere within short range of the seal, I believe FTG is one of the jutsus capable of allowing the user to bypass Susanoo, though the user will require to put a seal on Susanoo beforehand.

Now, people say Sword of Totsuka (spelling) is one of the most fastest attacks with a long range. The sword is as fast as what a regular sword would be, just scale it out in a bigger perspective. The sword though, has the capability to extend, what speed? I do not know. What I can say though, is that Nagato reacted to the sword, but was unable to escape as he was unable to use his feet to escape.

Now, people forget how formidable Minato's base speed is without the aid of FTG, which is the fastest base speed in the Narutoverse. Fighting against such speed would be difficult even for an MS user.

Now, the strongest point of Itachi, is his prowess with Genjutsu, which without doubt gives him an upper hand in the fight. Though please, do not be an obstinate fanboy basing an entire fight on the usage of genjutsu.

This fight could go either way, but I feel Minato has the advantage.

To all of you who are basically saying "not this again" or some varient of that phrase, unless you have anything to counter the argument provided by the creator of the thread, do not post useless crap, what you said is more pointless than how you make the thread out to be.

Now on to address the thread. I do personally believe that Minato does have an advantage, but Itachi would have a chance. The only way Itachi has a chance, however, is through his genjutsu. He would have to predict where Minato would appear, and quickly capture Minato in his genjutsu before he teleports again. I believe he is capable of this, although the chances would be small in my eyes. If Itachi managed to hid himself, he could capture Minato unawares, and thus trap Minato in his genjutsu. But Minato could possibly escape before Itachi captures him. Basically the only way Itachi wins is if he outthinks Minato and catches Minato in his genjutsu. But seeing as Minato is also a genius, the chances would be less in his favor (although since Itachi is a genius, I see the possibility of his victory).
