sasuke didnt know how izanami is activated until it was already activated, it was luck that sasuke decided to throw his sword instead of doing anything else

Itachi knew he would throw the sword because its was his only viable option Itachi took advantage of Edo Regen to set up Izanami.

Sasuke could simply have tried to grab kabuto with his susanoo arm instead of wasting time throwing the sword.
Kabuto could have simply dodged/deflected the sword.

there are too many different things that could have happened which would not have allowed itachi to replicate the earlier position

He is a great 1v1 shinobi, definetely top 10 on that aspect. But of course he is not unbeatable. He can be beaten by many characters , check other replies for lists (Obito,Madara,Hashirama etc...). But , he hasn't been beaten . He actually killed himself, with the help of Sasuke. He could have killed him , instead he decided to give a brotherly hit on the forhead. He did everything in his life for Sasuke first , and then for Konoha. Aaaand on topic again : He is defenetely not unbeatable. If he was he would have unlocked a rinnengan . be a hokage, killed tobi and the manga would be called Itachi.

BM Naruto beats him. Itachi can't tank his Bijuudama.

EMS Sasuke beats him. He has everything Itachi has, but it doesn't cost him stamina.

Because most people on this forum don't care at all about intelligence in battles. (hurderp, Rinnegan > MS)

If hes seems unbeatable it would have something to do with the weak level of competition he received, in majority of his fights the ninja weren't even top notch.
deidara to itachi losing i can understand since deidaraa a moron and he couldn't even beat sasuke
kakashi(at the time they fought) losing i could understand, it was even stated that kakashi dropped his guard.
orochimaru, its pretty easy to beat someone who isnt even trying to harm you but simply wraps you up and make his snake hiss at you, THATS ALL.(so ask yourself can itachi vs orochimaru even count?)

naruto, losing at the time(when he didn't even have sage mode,nor raisen shuriken,nor kyuubi mode,or bijuu mode) itachi got off easy
kabuto, itachi technically lost that fight, since he had to die first to use a move that can't even really be used in a fight,plus he had assistance from a ems user,plus every move kabuto had could have beaten itachi.
nagato, itachi would have clearly lost this fight had he fought alone,nagato had every answer to itachis abilities even tho,he was mind controlled, had limited to no movement at all,and was program to go after the 2 jins,while itachi had every advantage a shinobi could ask for and still technically lost since itachi had no answer CT meaning he died the moment it was used,(he was just lucky to have two kage level jins helping him out) so that would have meant if naruto and bee died itachi would have also lost because itachi needed them as much as they need him.
Even against bee itachi was getting overwhelmed, and bee would have killed him once when he threw his sword at itachi if NAGATO didn't save him by deflecting it with shinra tensei
Hell itachi couldn't even kill off his clan without being trained AND aided by a man with both senju and uchiha powers,a OP mangekyou technique,plus other forbidden uchiha techniques and who was trained by madara uchiha himself. if anything obito's the one who made itachi famous for the uchiha clan massacre,itachi wasn't shit.
