Damn you Kishi, you pulls out a original Taijutsu Master and shows Madara knowing about the eight gates as well.

Why the hell Madara knows?
Even No one reacted to Madara's statement when he spoke about the red steam.

And something more to say : Kakashi knows how the eighth gate looks, Madara knows how the eighth gate looks. Gai is alive, This is a new information and is speaking itself that Gai had a Taijutsu master to teach him the eight gates as well as "that" master had either a connection with Madara or learned the eight gates from his master who was alive during Madara's era who was the original creator of the eight gates (not talking about Madara as the creator)

We will be getting a new fresh flashback from Gai's Memory OR Kakashi's Memory because Gai's memory is weak. Lol

I know Kakashi didn't said it directly but he knows because he's Gai's official eternal rival.

I thought the 8 inner gates were basically widely known? At least to the Jonin rank shinobi.

But that is just saying they KNEW about it... not that they could actually perform it themselves.
