Simple. It would have been of no use so he kept using the thing he judged would have been most effective. Just because a commando has a knife, grenade and a launch rocket doesn't mean he has to use them all i a fight.

With the combined power of the 8 gates and minato gaara & kakashi, madara did not stand a chance, even if he had time to react together they could create an opening for gai 
just because everyone's not masturbating over guy doesn't mean they're a madara fanboy lmfao.
Anyway, madara couldn't react to this last attack. His only option would have been to throw up a defence before guy even begun to move, but he wasted way too much time. When guy started to rush him, guy's incredible speed caused a vacuum around him which tried to suck in air around him, distorting madara's staff and basically restraining him by making it difficult to move. On top of being restrained, guy was moving incredibly fast. There was just nothing madara could do during it...
Does that mean this attack can't be blocked? No. Someone like kakashi who likes to be cautious would have been underground long ago while a clone was standing there in his place. That's already a counter to this tech. Let's not forget guy crouched there for a while charging up, giving madara enough time to try to protect his ass, which he chose not to do. His business.

Madara most was testing his physical limits whilst trying to defend some attack...he never went on the offensive once...
He could of use limbo against gai and see what would happen to him...
No one is trying to discredit gai (or his 8 gates), he is absolutely insane. But saying 8 gates is stronger than juubi or a juubi Jin is hilarious...
And no his attacks aren't too fast to be blocked...madara blocked the evening elephant, but Madara's defense was destroyed by minato, Kakashi which is why gai was able to hit him.
