Sai was a waste of ink on Kishi's behalf. He wasted so much panel time on a character that has meant nothing to the plot. All those sai centric chapters are now pointless. He got trolled in the war esp the last chapter. Kishi is a great mangeka but including non main characters into the plot isn't something he does well. A shame coz I liked sai

So, he took no one, Team 7 is made out of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.
