So two things have to be done so that kakashi can become hokage:
1. Tsunade has to be replaced
2. He has to be one of the most experienced and knowledgeable person in the leaf.
Now for the first part
I believe that kakashi would become hokage because tsunade would actually die in the
coming chapters.
why? No sasuke does not kill her.
she dies because of another reason which has been forgotten by most of the base.
Yes Its the strength of a hundred healings
this technique though provides immortality in battle for a certain amount of time but
it also comes with a certain dangerous side effect. It reduces the life span of the
user as the cells can only divide and be created foor a certain amount of time
as confirmed by shizune in Part 1.
Now we know that tsunade has used this technique a lot for e.g
!. against orochimaru and kabuto
2. against Pein(exhausted her entire seal)
3. against madara(exhausted her entire seal)
4. against madara again when Dan gave her chakra. note that the chakra count
does not reduce the lifespan. the cells do because no matter how much or
whose chakra you use the cells would still be reduced.(she was cut in half)
5. After madara left.(she exhausted her seal again to heal kages)
6. when fighting Spiral Zetsu and Obito and Madara.
So she has used this technique a lot which must have shortened her lifespan
to the last point as she was already old at that time and she just looked younger
because of the seal.
The second part
kakashi also has to be one of the most knowledgeable and experienced people
in the leaf and one who has respect from everyone and also shows respect to
everyone.
kakashi has respect from the people and he respects them and would give his life
for their sake.
Kakashi is also one of the most knowledgeable and experieced shinobi in the leaf
because he was chosen to lead the second company in 4th shinobi war. the only
one who could have rivaled kakashi was gai but he is in a bad condition at the
moment an would take a lot of time to heal. Plus kakashi's intelligence is way
higher than gai as seen from his efficient use of strategies in battles.
the best choice candidate would have been shikaku Nara but since he is dead
Kakashi would be the best choice.
So what would happen?
I think that after the end of the fight Naruto would triumph and convince Sasuke
to trust him to bring change in the ninja world. Sasuke would leave and may give
a time limit to naruto to make things right or else he would return to do his way.
All of the shinobis would return to their respected villages. And maybe tsunade
starts feeling different and ill and would choose kakashi on his death bed which
would be accepted by all. Naruto would leave the leaf village this time alone
to impart his way of ninshuu in the people and mature before he can finally
become hokage and returns after three or more years in the leaf village in The Last
movie.
Why i think this would happen is because naruto is seen standing on a cliff in
the trailer of the Last, and it is probable that what he was lookin at was the leaf
village just as he did when he came back with jiraiya.
