Why Itachi tortured Kakashi back then?

im sick of people saying "he had to" and "he had no choice". BULLSHIT.
if hes as fukin strong and smart as the manga hypes him up to be, he should have NO PROBLEM AT ALL taking down asuma kurenai and kakashi without harming a hair on their heads, and then stabbing kisame with totsuka to finish up.
the logic that he had to to maintain his "evil persona" is crap and does not fly.

Reasons:

-to remind Danzo of how strong he is
-to intimidate them so he could run without being followed
-Kakashi and Kisame would have gotten suspicious if Itachi was blatantly holding back
-Kakashi was holding his own without ms, more ninjas could have arrived

He killed his own clan, you think he cared more about Kakashi's well-being than his plans with Sasuke and the secret of his past ?
