I could, right now, start a YouTube channel and say it’s news. People will subscribe and my channel will grow. However, all my videos are just my opinions and I only give info from my perspective and ideology.

Why am I not fake news?

Also, group think begins to happen. My peers on YouTube talk about something and they get a lot of views. So I talk about it too. But I also just parrot the accepted opinion.

So... am I fake news?

People get a lot of news from social media but it's important to double check with actual news sites, you can't trust it.

It IS fake news if you intend to do so, it all depends on the viewer and his/ her ideas/ beliefs and whether the viewer will conduct the research or just simply believe what is shown

Sadly @ Bold is exactly what the majority does. They take their one source as 100% proof because it fits their ideology or interests. Very few actually do the research and check multiple and credible sources. Especially if it puts their views in a bad light.

As to the original topic: yes it is fake news if you aren’t providing a multitude of sources and are just repeating rhetoric. But a lot of “trusted” media is guilty of the same thing to drum up ratings.

Because most people would read comments and try to check, there is an option for arguement. That is what was supposed to happen at least.
This does not happen with established news media, you are supposed to take whatever the perspective and propaganda they are trying to feed you you can not question their integrity. Dont you dare question their progressive celbrity gay anchor. But with social media you have people asking question, people who are at the scene telling the world. If you had noticed there is an ongoing war between social media and news outlets. Social media is projected as fake news and disinformation peddler and their ad sponsors are made to leave.

Finally somebody who understands and sees the issue as it is. I know so many people who would just watch CNN and believe everything they see just because it's shown on TV. It's not even Fox News, it's CNN! I don't even watch TV or own a TV set, I see no reason for it because all the information you need is under your fingertips online, and this information is more trustworthy, even though you have to go through a lot of crappy sources to get to the truth. If you have common sense and basic knowledge, you will quickly figure out which of those sources are reliable and unbiased. Another way to find out whether it's worth a research is when the government shuts those specific sites down sometimes, like InfoWars or DrudgeReport. I just wish more people would share such mentality and start questioning what is being shoved down their throats through media. However, I understand for some it's difficult to adjust and make such a change.

It's amazing to me how many people participate in hearsay because they saw a link shared on Facebook, for example. Social media can produce fake news, and so can YouTube creators. It's up to the individual to fact check what they hear. I think the reason many people don't is confirmation bias. People are quicker to accept something as fact if it fits their view of the world.
