Why is Obito still alive?

I'm a fan of the character, but let's face it he has no purpose left in this series.

Kishi keeps prolonging it & it annoys me , he should die already .

The fact that he's still alive proves he does have a purpose left in the series.

He's already technically dead. He just used the Rinne Tensei on Madara, so his death is nor assured. I give it about 5 chapters tops (to accommodate Madara's revival) before his death is official.

Nagato stayed alive for a little bit after he used rinne tensei, that or the gedos life-force will keep him alive

If he dies like this doing nothing further im going to be annoyed as hell, I mean im glad hes going but if his entire purpose was to revive Madara then what was the point in separating Madara from Tobi? he could have been the dude the entire time and we wouldn't have have had to waste this year on a pointless character.

Kishi enjoys doing the opposite of what people expect. even if sometimes its bad, he'll do it for the element of surprise.

No character lacks a purpose. Remember Kishi said everyone would have a part in this battle which is why even a lower level character like Gaara is getting screen time.
