Tons of male characters are voiced by women.

Kind of the opposite of Shakespeare plays, where women were played by young boys

Mainly because she could voice a high strung 12 year old like Naruto and carry it over to when he became a teenager.

Consider how long the series has been running, if they had hired a boy his voice would have changed, and ya never no how deep that voice might become.

At 12 my voice sounded like any other by 15, just 3 years later I have the deepest voice most people have ever heard lol. Often people on xbl accuse me of using a voice box. XD

Its a common sense sometimes a son can inherited his mom voice, so in this case maybe its a genetically unofficially naruto has his mom voice.

I've always wondered about this since I started watching this anime. When I found about it, I was pretty shocked! Anyway, Junko is great! Her voice transformation is amazing!

I like the japanese voice, is sometimes strange to know that is a woman but is cool. Naruto's english voice, I don't like, actually I only like Kakashi's, Hinata's, Sassuke's and Gaara's specially Gaara's. Liam O'Brien has one of the sexist voices ever <3
