Why is Naruto an Uzumaki and not a Namikaze??

Maybe it's an stupid question xD... i don't know how it works in Japan, but isn't Naruto suppose to take the father last name?... why is he an Uzumaki??

Maybe i missed something in the series, could you people give me an answer please??

Because his father had enemies in all nations. He struct fear into all those he met and they know his name. Anyone would easily figure out he was Minatos son, via their spiky blonde hair and sharp blue eyes. Plus he uses his signature Rasengan.

Kishi didn't think that far ahead so he made the explanation that he had a different last anime because people would have targeted Naruto if they knew he was the fourth's legacy (even though technically Kushina is one of the only people left of the uzumaki clan so they could have traced him through that, but he didn't have red hair so maybe people thought he made it up)
