[Spoilers] Why is Mihawk a Shichibukai?

We barely know much about Dracule "Takanume" Mihawk, origins, why he became Shishibukai, background, siblings, etc.

Today, a friend came by and said the reason he is a Shichibukai (not just his power) is because one of the Gorosei (the guy with a sword) is actually his father.

That would explain his dedication to the WG..

There's not way to prove this, just a "random" theory but it kinda makes sense... Why he is a Shichibukai?

We know more about Mihawk's past than we do in regards to other Warlords or ex-Warlords such as: Croc, Doffy, Moria and even Law.

The stupid theory of that guy being Kuina's granddad seems much more plausible than this theory.

What dedication? He rarely goes to their meetings. In fact, he only rocked up to one because he was interested of what they had to say about Luffy & Zoro. Plus, he fvcked off from the 'War of the Best' because he could give two shits about the marines' cause.

And this theory makes little to no sense. It's just pure hope.

Lol, try this. Dracule Mihawk is the world's strongest swordsmen. The shichibukai are meant to be intimidating which Mihawk is. Just look at his eyes , you'll freak out hahaha XD

Also, we know about his past daily duels with Shanks!!! :scorps:

This. That man is so badass that he sails the season alone on his little boat cutting galleons just to pass time. Almost everyone fears Mihawk, even Hancock said that the bravest warriors get frightened when they look at his eyes.

No to be come a shichibukai you have to be able to make other pirates shit themselves shanks=yonko mihawk fought and possibly tied with shanks so his name would be highly feared around the grandline thats why he is a shichibukai

He constantly gets harrassed by fodder marines, being a shichi is a free pass. Also, Mihawk really loves fighting. Now that Shanks has one arm he doesn't want to fight him anymore so he pretty much doesn't have anyone strong to fight. Joining the shichi will give him a ticket to the big events. Marineford war. If he wasn't a shichi he wouldn't of been able to go to marineford. So i think it's mainly to find strong opponents and not be harrassed by fodder. Also being a shichi gives him more freedom. Law already explained this though.

I don't think such a baseless theory deserves a thread really. It would've been better had it was more on the lines that the geezer with the sword trained Mihawk hoping he would join the WG, so after Mihawk beat him and shitted on WG. They decided to make him a Shichibukai as he was more of an asset they created, this would further be supported by his fights vs Shanks in the past b4 he rebuked working for WG(and remember WG and Marines are different) and then latter refusing to fight Shanky coz he knows who the bad guys really are.
I wuld smooth this out but he joined Shichibukai coz of his strength and when u're strong u don't just wanna lift yo sword for fodder remember he used that tiny knife/blade against Zoro until he deemed him worthy of his sword Yoru.
