Why is Hidan so hated?

He is underrated, but it is not like he is top 20 or anything.

He's the type of guy no-one would want to be within a mile of in real life. I expect most of us have been around similar loud-mouthed profanity-spewing people like that before, so I think that's a factor in why some underrate him; it's simply because they don't like him as a character.

Another reason could be that he has only ever used one technique in all his battles. His jutsu list is disappointing, and most assume that the more jutsu a character has, the more powerful/versatile they can be. Regardless, he's an S-rank shinobi and a member of Akatsuki, so clearly he's strong enough to win a fair amount of match-ups. With immortality on his side, plenty would have difficulty fighting him without the right amount of intel beforehand.

i didn't know people hated Hidan.. O__O he always seemed pretty cool and exciting and fun. The only akatsuki member to talk trash to Pein while he was alive. Kabuto and Tobi talked trash to Nagato's corpse. <.< how rude.
His style is very exciting and his fight with Kakashi was really exciting to watch. Asuma shared a death moment with him.

Lacks firepower? He has a massive scythe that he can chase people with.

unless you happen to be 8 gates or SM/BM you're not going to out taijutsu him, he was pushing back kakashi.

That is impressive.

His only move his deadly but the preps have to happen. Offensive jutsus are suppose to hurt or kill, doesn't mean they hit or work cause they don't 95% of the timem (assuming he isn't fighting someone in coma that can't move or defend itself).
A relatively big weapon (in this case a scythe) isn't great firepower... 0_0
Specially when its not intended to mortally wound but draw even the slightest amount of blood.
For instance, his partner Kakuzu has something we can consider great firepower: the masks massive AoE elemental burst.
He's effective against taijutsu users or other guys who lack firepower to put him down (cause immortality), yes, but if they have intel he becomes more or less useless due to having only ONE ability.
About the 2-tails, it was never stated that he soloed Yugito, he gave the 'finishing' blow but IIRC the fight happened off screen and Kakuzu was there too.

there is no such thing as soloing the two tails in bijuu mode as kakuzu was there and he was the one who directly tanked her attack

yugito was not one of the people who could perfectly control the tailed beast and as such that would greatly disadvantage her as then there is the limitation of not being able to use the bijuu mode for long as the bijuu will devour your chakra while you are using his

and pulling out the bijuu transformation greatly exhausts the jinchuriki and that would leave her open for attack

if she was unable to kill kakuzu during her limited time then she would become vulnerable and hidan would easily get her blood

He's not that strong, kakashi could have taken him on easy without kakuzu, and and he has to draw his circle to complete his ritual he's mad overrated imho because he's NOTHING without back up and ppl like bee or sasuke who can channel lightning into their blade defeat him with no difficulty.

Immortal/instant kill jutsu 100%/ Super taijutsu ( Better than sharingan Kakashi )/ Genjutsu/ LAUGHS at pain.

He can just Genjutsu to instant kill anyone who can't blolreak out of genjutsu.
Otherwise he pushes them back and stays on a tight offensive with taijutsu ( VERY underestimated taijutsu, on par with GUY ( no gates )
Plays dead and then stabs you in the face and laughs.

He's at mid/high kage level.

lol I didn't say much because it should be common knowledge that Hidan is very dangerous. Personally he has one of the more entertaining fighting styles because it isn't op jutsu tossing...it is straight Kenjutsu (well... Scythejutsu).

Another thing is he hasn't shown Ninjutsu or genjutsu....which would make him even more dangerous.

I'll just leave it st that... Since you seem to understand already that he's strong.

anyone who can use lightning chakra in there swords can instantly break his scythe, take away his scythe, and he literally has nothing, it's no coincidence that the second shikamaru separated him from kakuzu he defeated him, and he could've done it a lot sooner if he didn't need to use him to kill one of kakuzu's hearts.
