I was going through a couple of forums concerning how characters have aged throughout the beginning, to the end of their respective animated series's, or up to leading to 2015 with their appearances in terms of debut and current look. Someone pointed out to me this image and I just realized that Ash Ketchum(from Pokemon) is still to this day, a kid. Can someone please explain this to me as to why he has not aged while other characters from other anime has indeed, even those from shows that are younger than Pokemon.

new generation of kids watch pokemon every new season, and pokemon is just immature enough to shovel down the throats of 5 year olds...while dbz would be considered to edgy nowa days for kids...sad but true pokemon is the only show that tv can milk without offending people

Who knows.

I actually can't stand cartoons or animes where the character never grows up. I think it's easy to relate to the characters when you grow up with them instead of being like 25 and your favorite character is still a damn 8 year old power kid.... :coffee:

Why is there 2007 on Naruto? It started in 1999 (and the anime in... 2005?). Shippuuden started in 2007.

OT: I guess it's because each new season of Pokemon can be seen as a new series, and its target audience is always kids (it's not like those anime with a single continuous story whose audience grows up "with" them). I know there's continuity in Pokemon as well, but in a sense, it "reboots" over and over again.

But what about one piece, the main objective is finding one piece and be king of pirates yet there is time skip, while with Pokemon the main objective is to win the pokemon league and be a pokemon master yet no time skip.

I don't get one thing, I am sure there was a episode about Ash and Pikachu 1 year anniversary so Ash should be 11 minimun, yet in pokemon black and white the nariator says Ash is 10 that is a contradiction.

Why have a 1 year anniversary if Ash doesn't age?

Because he's in a coma and dreaming being the greatest pokemon master ever. Come on now you think Ash and a simple Pikachu are really that good?

Based on those dates though we have more questions to answer now. How did Goku age 20 some years in a 10 year span? How did that guy above Ash only age about 10 year in a 20 year period?

Better question. Why hasn't pikachu evolved yet?
Because you need a Thunderstone which Ash hasn't used on him.

Yup.. made me stop watching Pokemon when I noticed that it happened twice
in the new series/regions, where he forgets everything.... The dude literally forgot how to ****ing catch pokemon twice, even though in one of the series he brought a pokemon he caught in the previous region.

Here is a short video clip of the episode when its the anniversary

For those who rather read here what Ash says:

"Don't you know what today is Pikachu? This is the day we first met, when we first became friends, I think that really special don't you."

See, the only way to be the same day they met is if 1 year passed, so Ash is 11 years old officially. Then in Pokemon black and white 1st episode the Nariator says "The 10 years old trainer Ash" I mean what the heck.

That is really messed up. I can't find any short videos and I don't know if posting full episode is allowed or not.
