Why is foot speed and body flicker so inconsistent?

I thought Sasuke was fast? Damn he was struggling to reach that portal in this chapter, in fact he wouldn't have made it if not for his substitution jutsu (best way to describe in tbh).

The portal wasn't even that far away from him, we've seen ninja cross longer distances in much shorter time even.

So many instances in the manga where body flicker/shunshin should've been used but wasn't U_U

sasuke is indeed fast, but the portal was at first beyond his reach, and it was closing really fast. you can't blame obito and sakura for that as they both already opened the other 3 dimensions..

Gotta agree with this. We saw Sasuke panting last chapter in that desert, he must have been using his strength earlier and probably didn't shunshin initially because he didn't want to waste chakra doing it when he knows he needs it against Kaguya. But after realizing his opportunity was being loss in his face, he resorted to his Rinnegan.

But yeah, they do nerf it for plot as well. Body flicker would have made it done in a snap.

All kishi had to do was draw the portal a lot further away from Sasuke. It was so close to him that he honesty should've been there in no time.

I could see Ay in V1 make it from that distance easily.
