I'm not saying that everyone is a dunce, but it seems to me that every time something from the past is brought up. Stuff thats a big deal like...idk the fact that Asuma was the Third Hokage's son (and a lot of other stuff), no one in Konoha seems to know anything. I'm sure you guys could come up with a lot of other examples too. There are a lot regarding the history of Konoha and the other lands. It's not like these places are THAT old. The first and second Hokages only founded Konoha maybe 70-80 years before Naruto's time? I'm just guessing. If anyone knows the actual dates or w/e feel free to correct me, but for as much time and effort they put into recon and connections and allies, they seem to know nothing. Is that weird to anyone else, or just me? I'll admit defeat if its decided that I'm a noob.

I don't know why the younger generation don't know about konoha's history, like sasuke never knew about madara, or that hashi was his rival, if he didn't now none of that, it's safe to assume that the younger generation have no idea about how konoha came into existence.

also, none of the younger generation knew about danzo, and this was a guy who lived in the same village and was an elder, and served on the same team as the 3rd, but they didn't have a clue.

I guess they just don't teach history, lol

Well it's not just the younger generation though. The older jounin and such seem that way to me too. Yama gets what I mean. I mean they seem very uneducated about everything. I would think they'd teach history at the academy. It could only help them down the road.

it does seem like most of the history is kept within top and a few select jounin.

Exactly, When Jiraiya came in Ebisu attacked him. Ebisu worked for the 3rd protecting Konohamaru and training him. I think he should know who Jiraiya is. Plus. Jiraiya was in the village because they wanted him to become hokage and still they didnt know him.

Actually the 9 Tales was kept secret from the children in the village. Even though the adults knew the kids didn't know, they just ostracized Naruto because their parents did. The Third Hokage even said that the people who even whispered about the Kyuubi were severely punished.
