Why is edo tensei so much restricted?

In VS threads when it's Orochimaru or Kabuto edo tensei is restricted.Is it that edo tensei is overkill?

The point of VS threads are basically to determine which character is stronger than the other, or which character can beat the other. Having a character use Edo Tensei would be like someone being unable to beat you up, then having their brothers join and they team up on you, then saying that he can beat you because of that.

Because it's overkill, only a select few could beat them with ET, as opposed to without. Also it turns the fight into Edos vs whoever, not really kabuto or ochimaru.

yup its overkill for non JJ,Rikudo chakra Characters... so they restrict it... against Rikudo Chakra Shinobi it doesnt mattar u restrict it or not....

It's still a summoning jutsu.It can be consider as their arsenal.

Because Vs. matchups are primarily to determine skill and ability against another, and Edo tensei gives one person to win a battle without using any skill or ability.

Yeah it is, but it just turns battles into stop threads because of ET. Not many characters can beat them with it, baring rikudo characters.

its a strict plot device used solely for character development(unless Tobiramas is using it)

Edo Tensei is a preparation technique sort to say. You need to have the DNA and a sacrifice beforehand to call forth the person you want to resurrect. You can't just perform Edo Tensei on the battlefield.
