Why is Code Geass supposed to be so great?

So, I recently started watching Code Geass even though the stupid bastards at WatchMojo already spoiled the ending for me, and I heard that it was really good.

Some people even say it is comparable to Death Note because Lelouch and Light are so similar, but I still think that Light>Lelouch and Death Note>Code Geass.

Now, keep in mind that I'm only at episode 20 right now.
I just can't seem to love this series, the way people are drawn, they're either really skinny or they're extremely fat, the only people that look average are the people with layers of clothes on.
The tend to end everything they started in an episode in the same episode, there is barely any suspension except for that fact that you're just waiting for Lelouch to conquer and destroy Brittania.

I really don't get what you guys see in this anime, or maybe it's just because I haven't gotten to the ''good parts'' yet.

I like the Art Style but I am not drawn to the plot either it just drags out because of plot armor.

CG has a good story imo, and offers action for the casual anime watcher who might not want to watch an anime like Death Note that lacks action. By 20 episodes, you mean on the second season (R2) right? I also like CG since it's a roughly short series (50~ish episodes). I mean not everyone will like all anime, but CG does have a very intriguing story for its short run.

Yes I'm still on the first season.

Death Note didn't have any action but I feel as if the awesome mind battles Light and L had were more than enough for it.
I mean like come on, even Light writing in a book and eating chips were somehow epic.

i think people love it because it possess some op power we all love like (doujutsu),it is hard to find a good anime with doujutsu powers,but code geass it one anime which you just cant help,but love it.the fight scenes are pretty cool too,but the doujutsu is the best thing I liked about it,when I started watching it....

Code Geass is one of my favorites. I liked the characters and the relationships between them all. Perhaps since you know how it ends, everything else is just sort of blah to you now. Death Note to me was good in season 1 but horrible season 2.

I don't agree with you guys here.
Sure, Death Note could've ended with L's death, and I didn't like Mello or Nier either, but it wasn't bad if you ask me.

The second season of Code Geass just takes everything to a whole new level. It sucks that you were spoiled but just stick with it, the story is Legendary.

not necessarily. All 3 are great. But I do agree Johan shits on em. Light is the smartest from the three imo.

As for Death Note vs Code Geass?

Death Note is more on the intellectual side while Code Geass is more on the emotional side. There are instances in Code Gess where stuff just happens for no good reason other than to juice up the plot

IMO Death Note > Code Geass.

But Geass is still an incredible anime.
