Why is boruto a gary stu?

It just makes no sense as to why that boruto would be so powerful and it's really forced like this kid starts out the story loosing to a white zetsu and getting bodied by shino yet not even a year later he's boding jonin like deepa like say what you must about naruto but he needed to train to beat stronger foes like itachi and kisame like in part 1 he got bodied by them yet in part 2 he has grown enough to where he can beat them which shows how far he has progressed due to his training.

Plus he always whines about his father not being there and we as audience just feel that he's petty in that as naruto has a job and is a grown man meaning that schedule issues can occur like that.
Off topic but how can boruto hate his father when they look nigh identical and act nearly the exact same

One reason why i never continued boruto was cus of the contrast between him and younger naruto, which is unfair cus characters develop etc. I guess different circumstances sorta dictates the kind of characters that come from the show which is understandable and well character development is a thing so I get what you mean when you say he's a gary

He is not a Gary stu or a Mary sue or any of that nonsense.

For starters, he is not so overly powerful as people make him out to be. In fact, most of the enemies that have been faced in the Boruto series thus far have either been dealt with by mostly Naruto/Sasuke, or it has been teamwork between Boruto and several other people (such as team 7 or Kawaki). Boruto has never really just outright soloed any powerful opponent.

Secondly, you and a lot of people are mad that Boruto is not some weak fodder who only has one little jutsu that he can only use once a day before he is out of chakara. If you ask me, it makes more sense for shinobi to be like Boruto rather than how Naruto was when he was a kid.
Y'all seem to forget this:
Naruto was a late bloomer. He was not the norm. It makes sense that his son is more talented than what he originally was.

Also, the main character can't be allowed to be an absolute fodder. Having said that, Boruto wasn't given a bijuu at birth (so he doesn't have the monstrous chakara reserves that Naruto had), and Kishimoto even initially forgot to give him the byakugan. That said, if he wasn't given the talent that he possesses, then he would be an absolute fodder who would die on his first mission! He might as well not be the main character in that case.

Furthermore, in terms of personality, Boruto is not a perfect character by any stretch of the imagination.

Have you forgotten about that bratty "I hate the hokage because daddy can't play with me" phase that he used to be in?

How about the fact that he used to not have any drive to train or work hard?

How about the phase where he was hating on scientific ninja tools because he got in trouble for his own cheating?

This dude is not a perfect character.

So no... Boruto is not a gary stu or anything like that. He is a relatable and developing character.

He's a badly written character, he gets slapped around and is the weakest of his team. What do they do to remedy that? Give him a random asspull, which functions like Kurama.

It's probably because the story is told from his perspective that he comes across as a GS.


Otherwise, we must also consider that while Naruto was a work of art, Boruto is a work of business.
