Does the main character have to be someone special?

I always liked Naruto because he underdog and people hate him. I always like to see underdog who people put down come out on top. Naruto not smart but through hard work he getted better.

He couldnt learn shadow clone but manage to learn multiple. He cant do rasengan so he use a clone. People say he no good and why you let him be ninja but then he beat neji the hyuga kid. This why I like him.

It ruin for me when make naruto hokages son and get special training from super senseis. That seems like rich boy son of a banker getting private schooling and ending with good grade to do well.

I want to see underdog story where he beat the odds himself. Like be poor and go to crappy school but still manage to get good grade. Naruto used to inspire me but not now.

They do same in One Piece. They make Luffy some legendary guys son. They give him all hakis an make priate king 2nd in command train him. These are special people not underdogs.

The type of person I want to see beat the odds is someone like Rock Lee.

From the very first episode we learn Naruto is special. That the 9 tails dwells inside of him makes him different hence the special part of him. Everyone has a special attribute and usually when you have your protagonist, His or her special attributes are generally showcased. Rock Lee is special in his own way simply because he works harder than 90% of the characters on Naruto, and knows the meaning of hard work.

I don't want him weak I just want him to overcome odds himself. Get SM himself . Have them train him maybe but he completes everything himself. No special hokage father. Fox gets stripped from him.
