Why I can never forgive Itachi

He didn't even really protect Sasuke from Danzo, because he sent Sai to kill him regardless.

Are you doubting the capabilities of Sasuke? It sounds to me like you're assuming that Sai could really have killed Sasuke. If that were the case then there really is no hope for Sasuke -.- at the very start of Shippuden.

There are holes because Kishi hasn't filled them all in yet -.- At the end of last chapter it seems that he plans on going into that whole situation, finally. Besides Sasuke doesn't blame Itachi for it so why should you?

@ Uchiha Defender I'm not arguing the fact that the coup was right or not. Though it is easy to see why they would want to. Their power was cut, but they should have done it from the start when Madara wanted to. They had a strong leader and they missed their chance.

Pay attention to the manga.......If he had refused, then the elders would have assigned the mission to the ANBU black ops. They would've killed everyone including sasuke, that's why Itachi decided to do it himself.

More like he failed :flaw: because he became Danzo's pawn and gave into his fabricated stories of the Uchiha "coup" and mass massacred the clan that actually voted against their own leader Madara and made their rival SENJU Hashirama as Hokage for peace.

Itachi knew about the coup. His parents told him to spy for them, his dad called him the pipeline between the clan and anbu, itachi was supposed to betray the village for his clans sake. Itachi didnt run to Danoz he told the higher ups and they all had a meeting, the 3rd wanted peace, but it was too late, eventually, the only resolve was to kill them all. So to preserve the clans name, and his bros life, Itachi made it so that the story of the uchiha would seem like:

- douche kills the clan
- sole survivor avenges clan
- sasuke = hero + ems

It was either that or the uchiha cause a civil war weakening the village AND clan over all, other territories see an opportunity and kill the uchiha to get rid of one enemy village. Had they're coup been successful, they'd all just die later anyways.

Interesting....I'm curious as to where it was said that uchiha wanted to specifically kill villagers. And as for looking to take power, could you explain why the uchiha co founders of the leaf village itself, would even feel the need to do that.

You proved yourself wrong. You said Itachi was just following orders and could have listened to his heart. You are right and wrong my friend. You are right by saying that Itachi was following his heart but wrong by saying that he was just following orders.

Itachi said it himself that he didn't want to see another war because he was mentally scared from seeing the third great ninja war as a child and his clan was attempting to start another war against Konoha. Itachi's intention was to protect Konoha against enemies, which in this case was his clan. He also did not kill his younger brother; by no doing so, he was directly disobeying orders. In summary, he followed his heart by eradicating the enemy, which was the Uchiha Clan, and not killing his younger brother, which was a direct order. So he killed his clan not under the order of Danzo, but because he knew they would be a threat to Konoha, but he fled the village and lived his life as a rogue ninja under the order of Danzo and other high ranking authorities.

Yeah cuz a take over doesnt involves causalities at all. They wanted to take over cuz they were moved to the corner of the village after the kyuubi attack. so they decided to take over
