But hip hop isn't dead. You just need to know where to look. Common, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye-- and it's thriving in the underground, and hasn't died since the 80's.

same goes for Rock. Though it depends what genre of rock. Alternative/indie has never been more alive, but if you're looking for rock in the same vein as Queen or AC/DC... well, you can't because those guys were in a genre all their own in the first place. xD
