[Discussion] Why hasn't Tobi used the Rinnegan?

I think Tobi was too shocked at the fact that Naruto was there to even do that and he had no alternative because of the speed Naruto was coming at him.

Don't forget that, while the Manga doesn't translate motion very well, Naruto is supposed to be stupid fast now. As in, one of the fastest ninja alive, period. There's a chance that Tobi just didn't have enough time to activate the Rinnegan. Also, he hasn't had it that long? Maybe he's not that good with it afterall. Maybe he isn't even that good of a fighter; I mean, think about it. All we've seen him do is use others to do his fighting, and phase out when he gets attacked. I really don't think he's on the level without his space-time ninjutsu.

I'm sure wielding the Rinnegan and controlling 6 Jinchuuriki is way more costly than him using the Kamui. The Rinnegan is the most powerful visual jutsu there is. I don't think Tobi truly has the reserves of Chakra to use it all that well

There's no evidence point to the fact that:

1. Tobi doesn't have the chakra reserves to use any of the Rinnegan abilities. He used his mangekyou ability all day, everyday and you people are saying he's completely unable to use an ability that will in fact benefit him (Preta Path). Doesn't add up.

and

2. Why wouldn't he have enough "control" to use any of the paths? He had more than enough control using the linked vision in SIX Jinchuriki. If you were to ask me which is harder to do use one Rinnegan ability or control six other bodies with the Rinnegan, I'm gonna have to say that latter is definitely more advanced.

this was already answered in the manga. the rinnegan is being used to keep the powers of the bijju suppressed, in controlling the gedo and the chains whichtobi used on the hachibi . Right now, the rinnegans powers are maxed out. tobi cannot use pains techs while also maintaining control of the above listed things at the same time.

The Jins were controlled by the Edo Tensei also; the hosts probably had a good hand in controlling the tailed beasts.

np. frankly if i were tobi id be more worried about demoralizing my opponents than about concealing my identity. the secreys out: he isnt madara, like minato said it doesnt matter who he is and naruto needs to stop obsessing over this question as well.

He probably never got to practice it much before the battle. He may of just used it because he thought it would make him and his tailed beast unstoppable... Plus Naruto is now super fast Tobi was probably in shock and didn't have the time to think

Dnt know most likely he cant or else he would have to stop naruto breaking the mask.

IMO, he just got caught off-guard, or was too shocked to react in time. Either that, or he can't use the Rinnegan in his dimension. Maybe he can't use any ninjutsu (besides his space-time technique) in his dimension?

I suppose he used too much chakra while trying to control the Bijuu. Maybe that's why he can't use the Rinnegan's special techs.

Tobi is to reliant on his space/time ninjutsu. He's just a one trick pony.
