Why Hanabi isn't in the war?

I suppose she would be with Konohamaru, Moegi, Udon, etc. Even though they are genin - they are kept in minimal combat role.
Which is a little... odd. They can be sent into the Forest of Death where they get slaughtered by God only knows who with what abilities... but they can't go into a war where they will be under direct supervision of Chunin and Jonin ranked leaders.
Not to mention - leaving a bunch of kids as the last line of defense against bandits and raiders to your 'home base' .... may want more than Iruka and Ebisu left to keep things in order.
Though we don't really see much of Hanabi - ever. Apparently, she's off-limits, though - the anime has not really included her in any filler, at all. None. Zip. Zero. They'd rather put in the damned ninja ostrich. Which means that Kishimoto may have plans to bring her into the story, later, and has 'locked' her character out of being used so as to keep conflicting scenarios (Bleach's "You've never spoken with your zanpakuto while in Bankai..." ... made perfect sense in the manga... not so in the Anime... oops) from developing.
Or it could also mean that the Anime producers feel there would be more interest in ninja ostriches and three months of "I'm on a boat" than seeing any kind of development of Hanabi.
Of course - the Hyuuga, and many other clans, are not expanded upon by anime filler hardly at all. So it could be a case of Hanabi not being included due to her status as a Hyuuga as opposed to her character being of any particular importance.

Maybe later on Hinata can train Hanabi just like Neji did with Hinata.
