Why hanabi and not hinata

Im pretty sure Hanabi showed some potential as a young girl. She could be one of the most powerful Hyugas after a small timeskip. I dont doubt for a second that she is more powerful than Hinata.

Plot twist maybe. Maybe this new guy is actually not a villain. Possibly Hinata is already pregnant (that would be nice fan service for NaruHina shippers).

Probably, though, just easier. Hinata has long surpassed Hanabi.

No she hasn't lol. Hanabi who is younger than Hinata was stronger and more talented than Hinata. That's why their dad ditched training Hinata and gave her to Kurenai while he focus on Hanabi. The months Before the Chunin exam to the months after it where Naruto left, Hanabi was training with her dad. Hinata started to train with Neji while Hanabi still had her dad to train her for the 2.5 yrs time skip then still so for the months that passed. During Pein attack she was off with her dad on a mission. She's clearly stronger than Hinata
