It was Zucks idea behind facebook,Instead stealing info you can make them put into it.
As for NSA or any authority it doesnt matter,if FB was of my country my government would have used it on the same way.Just like NSA the servers and phone calls in your country are spied by your government.Mostly all those chinese networking equipments are backdoored.If you dont want get spied by american authorities just stay away from anything American.
I dont have any close friends on FB to share photos and info.I just use my FB account browse memes.I dont really use it for anything socializing.It is the best way to browse memes and get latest news.

facebook is the first step to the implemention of a society fully dependent to social networks. one day, real life and virtual life will be bonded together to the point that if you don't have a virtual life, you'll either die or have a very meaningless real life. when that happens, governments will have the window of opportunity to implement a totalitarian society and we'll live in a true distopia. such distopia will be way beyong george orwell's pay grande and suffice to say, it will be like the matrix but without the red pill.
