Why don't we compare Naruto to Itachi ?

There's something most of us didn't notice

That the Susano'o fire Sasuke used against Naruto was not meant to hit him but to prepare Kirin
the same trick was used against Itachi

however, when the trick was used against Itachi, he immediately noticed the change in the climate, and he was able to use Susano'o and defend himself from Kirin

on the other hand Naruto did not notice anything and just kept on attacking Sasuke, as a result of this, he took a direct hit from the lightning, and if this part was cannon, Naruto's avatar would've been seriously damaged and that is probably why Kirin was never used in the manga

Sasuke told Itachi about Kirin. Itachi watched Kirin happen. Zetsu noticed the change in atmosphere.

Did Itachi notice the atmospheric change? Probably. Did Itachi realize that Sasuke's fire was responsible? Probably. Did Itachi react in 1/1000th of a second? Yes. But did he notice Kirin himself and counter without any prior knowledge? No.

Well as we all know Naruto isnt known for his prowess of observation. Itachi had Sharingan to better react to Kirin and activate Susanoo in enough time.
