Why don't people like us?

Why do so many people look down on Anime fans? I just don't get it? I've been reading on articles that people have been sent to jail for contain "porn" like manga's, that contain some child nudity when it clearly states 13+ of age. The majority of boys in the the 90s even now are and grew up with DBZ. If you like DBZ your an anime fan. POINT BLANK PERIOD!

You don't have to like every other anime. As I only like Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, and AoT. My parents and my other friends that watch anime have no problem with it, so why do other people? I know some of us cosplay, and other's just look weird. It's not like were so different looking like Goths, and Emos.

If people cosplay, it's the same thing as Halloween just without the darkness and candy.

There is some sort of social notion that anime = cartoons, the kind that you see in Cartoon Network.

In reality, some of the darkest themes are explored in anime.

and some stories are better left with anime than to be portrayed in live action. Dragon Ball Evolution is the finest example.

Its the stigma that comes with enjoying anime, people see you as a nerdy loser with no life & no friends, however this clearly isnt the case.

Its the same concept as a child not liking their vegetables even though they havent even tried them. People are too quick to judge & are ignorant to accept any form of change U_U

Cosplay has its cool points. And so do some anime.
Now I will say about 4/5 of anime is recycled tropes. When it gets repetitive and the art styles remain juvenile people will categorise them as all the same thing. My mum hates pokemon because its so bright and I was addicted to watching it as a kid. I made my mum watch an episode of Legend of Korra and by the end she was waiting for the next episode.
When people see quality, they won't care what type of media its from. If it's good, and original it'll defeat judgements.

It's not really that they dislike anime watchers, it's more like they think they're nerdy, weird or lame. It's a shame that they can't get their head out of their asses because there's a lot of good anime out there compared to most trash I see on tv U_U

If you're talking about someone being arrested in the states for having child nudity manga or something, well that's not alarming. All child pornography in the states is illegal... that's because this country, hereby called 'merica, was built upon propa chrischun values and such..

Naw I'm playing. But seriously, christian values have so much variation between them and some things are old fashioned and some things are so protective of children especially.. I mean it makes sense if they want to think of this as a christian-based country (Not saying you can't be any other religion in the states of course)

Thing is, a lot of americans in general think the Japanese are weird. I mean it seems normal to us cos we watch anime, we are exposed to their culture a lot if you think about it. However, for the average american who doesn't know crap about anime and watched the 4kids dubbed version of pokemans, they'll be like "Whaaa?? THOSE JAPANESE ARE WEIRDDD"...

Also, DBZ is the sickest shit, hence no one gives a damn - and is again, the most popular anime out there. Period.
