But the reason to keep a gun is to be ready. We in America have a civic duty to be ready to form a militia in a moment's notice. It's where you get "minute men" from. A sheriff in New York just said "if you have guns and a conceal permit, start using it." I think every home should have a riffle. They should outlaw handguns and automatics though and have a full registry.
