Why don't more people use the gates?

I know that it is a very risky and body deteriorating effect but with something with as much potential as this...you'd think more people in the whole ninja world would use them than Guy & Lee. Even as just a last resort, you'd think more ninja (I refuse to believe people like Ay could benefit from it) would train themselves to learn and use them!

Maybe Kishi wants to give Gai and Lee an unique ability because they lack ninjutsu/genjutsu? Would be fair.

However imagine Madara/Obito/Itachi/Sasuke with Izanagi and in the 8th Gate..would be way to OP, they really would be unbeatable xD

1. Its a forbidden jutsu so its use is banned!! its sheer luck that the two konoha taijutsu specialists know it & use it!!
2. No one else has been taught how the techniques work due to above mentioned facts..

It takes elite ninja to unlock eight gates release. everyone does not posses the skills needed to pull it off. only gai,lee, and kakashi have been shown opening up gates.

If you can remember back when the gates were introduced, it was stated that its a Forbidden Jutsu and also, that its a technique that is part of the Hidden Leaf!!

Gai have ninjutsu but he doesn't really use it.
