I can very well think of how others feel, and justify their actions, pain, hate; I just can not share these things. That's a huge difference. Now I do know that empathy is about the reflection and reaction of these feelings as well, but just because I can fully understand and accept a wife crying about her husband's death, I do not have to cry myself. All I need is to understand what she is going through, which I do.

Since they are major opponents in my country i focus on ISIS attacks a lot but to be honest i do not know the people and i do not feel sad but i find it is a shame that people died at something like a football match because they just entertained themselves and suddenly it came
I already can imagine their shocked expressions when the attackers appeared....Death came straight for them

Actually before the attack i heard rumors that they blackmailed them before and people ust took it easy and said : It is ok they wanna just make the football team uncomfortable

It has no big influence on me so yeah i just feel like their deaths should not really have happened

about Paris. It's not like I don't care at all, it's sad. But no matter what I see, I don't have any hard feelings about it. Like not only this incident right now, but a lot of cruel things. People been calling me cruel and emotionless a lot of times.
I can not create any hard feelings such as being sad that over 100 innocent people just died in France. It's not that I do not see this as bad or tragic, I very well do, I just can't build anything from it. Neither hate, nor sadness.

its not just you. look at history, humans have a hard time feeling whats not infront of them. People experience war, they learn the value of peace. war stops. and than eventually people forget why peace is so valuable and than war breaks out again.

its not because people dont care, or because they forgot, IMO its because its not right in front of their eyes on a daily basis. sadly soceity isnt morally strong enough yet to do the right thing everytime when surrounded by wrong.

My father's best friend who's Like an uncle to me and both of his sons are close friends of mine passed away not too long ago.

At first I felt sad and devastated but then later at lunch, my father started weaping and starting talking about the old days with him and praising his generosity and suddenly all the pain locked in my chest just exploded and I started crying along with him.

Realizing that I'll never be able to see him again and knowing his family and my father has it worse than me was too much for me to handle.

It's because you're not emotionally invested in it and that's ok because you don't know anyone in France or Paris personally. Anyway, I'm going to sound really stupid because I don't watch the news but I spoke with my mom today and she mentioned France at one point in our conversation. However, I have no idea what's going on nor did I know 100 people just died. With that said, I can see why people would be sad about it even when it has nothing to do with them personally. I wish the best for the peoples families and loved ones. Btw, on average 1500 people die everyday that never gets reported.

I too do not care too much about it. Yes, what happened is horrible but I'm not really emotionally invested because
1) shit like that happens all the time (sadly) and
2) because it didn't affect me personally.
What I can't stand however are attention whores who act like they care oh so deeply about it only to get recognition from other people, but will have forgotten all about what happened in a week or so.

If you can't see the difference between 1500 people dying in 1500 separate instances and different causes separate from each other, and over 100 people being massacred at one time in one isolated incident, you might be a retard.

I've learned the smarter a person is, the more emotion they have to deal with. Those who aren't so bright usually aren't too emotional. I can't say it's fact but definitely something I noticed.

I mean emotion comes from reasoning and knowledge mostly, but it's an instinctive outcome of that reasoning. A certain circumstance will cause your brain to come to all these conclusion in like a millisecond. All those thoughts you have on the subject will arise, while if you lack a bunch of knowledge or experience regarding certain circumstance, you won't feel it as deeply emotionally, as someone who has.

I've been to Paris many times and have friends there. All these thoughts came into my head, not that I was crying but I was definitely feeling all of these emotions hoping those I knew we're safe. I could imagine shootings happening at certain places I've been, the reactions of people during all of this, all of these thoughts caused me to feel.

Really? Because I've noticed that it's usually the uneducated that let their emotions out wild and stress over the little things. I used to get upset over everything but then I realized it's a waste of my time. You do have a point though, they say dumber people tend to be happier as they're not concerned with much.
