why doesn't Shino get more screen time?

2. he is on the battlefield but if kishi showed a whole bunch of minor characters, it would take longer to get to the plot characters like naruto and sasuke and madara

Sadly Shino isnt given any importance at all , he hasnt been utilized much anyway , but yeah he isnt a major charachter , so we dont need to see him more at screen time

The only reason he isn't of use is because they don't show him. There is a difference. Keep in mind he has dominated every 1v1 fight he's been in. He's one of the stronger Konoha 11 ninjas. I'd go so far as to say he rivals even Neji

I love Shino he def should've been one of my more core side characters. I mean TenTen is pretty major and for what reason? Just so she can throw a million weapons and not hit even leave a scratch? While I'm a huge Naruto fan I feel like a lot of things are done or left out for no reason. Even though there is the main story you're given all these interesting tidbits that turn into nothing like our poor Shino. Maybe one day he'll be a star to everyone else too. He'll probably be Hokage since everyone gets to be considered for the job. xd

I think Shino gets little screen time because number 1 he's not high on alot of people's "I want to see him radar" and number 2 because to me he is the ace of the konah 12. He's really intelligent and with his bug attacks he has a wide variety of strategies that'll make most battles way too quick and boring for the leader. You notice we only saw him on 1 mission and that was the second find Sasuke mission where they fought Tobi. Tobi might be the only character that could completely defeat Shino in battle because of his intangible jutsu.

Shino actually is high on the "I want to see him" radar. You tend to notice these things when you're a fan.
Considering how Shikamaru has a better variety of strategies and is extremely popular, prehaps that's not a good reason. xd
No one else really did anything in the Capture Itachi mission.
About the Tobi comment: Shino's pretty good, but not that good. ;-)

Yes, he's had a few pages in the war. His last appearance was Naruto and Hinata's "in their eyes" scene.
