Kakashi has shown great kenjutsu him and Itachi are beasts with a sword but they never use them for some reason. Not to mention if he had a special sword he can infuse it with Raiton chakra and make it even deadlier.

Although it seems that he is good with the sword, it is kinda heavy and fighting with it will be more tiring. Furthermore, the enemy could take advantage of the sword because of its large size.

It clear Kakashi is skilled in Kenjutsu, but playing with his daddy's sword when he was little doesn't make him a kenjutsu master. It's best to stick with what you are good at in the middle of a war than try to be out of the box and get killed.

well using a huge sword to defeat the swordsmen of the mist speaks for itself doesn't it?
