Why does Zabuza's sword suck compared to the rest?

Kakashi stated it was an A rank mission because he was protecting someone from being assassinated. I don't understand how you could misinterpret that really.

To keep track of all the current enemies of their village, each ninja carries a handbook. This book lists those ninja who pose a danger to their village, including its missing-nin and foreign ninja. A so called "whos-who" guidebook for the ninja. Those listed are ranked based on the level of dangerousness, with the most deadly attaining an "S-Rank.

Pretty sure Zabuza was a S-rank criminal. I guess Zabuza's fighting style was more closer to a true shinobi's method of stealth and assassination. Still, his sword sure is lacking...

It`s not how big and powerfull your sword is, it's how you use it

it sucks because it was introduced as the beginning villain's weapon, now kishi couldn't give it powers with suigetsu, cause everyone would be like WTF zabuza had plenty of chances to show us this power against kakashi, so instead he chose to break it in half -_-

Raiga=filler. Filler=fail on default. I watched that arc but all I can remember is some horrible plot which involved a kid ninja or w/e on his back. *shudders*

Yeah pretty much. It would've looked like weak writing if the supposed master of the blade didn't use it's full potential in his death battle whilst a young punk like Suigetsu could. The power levels have risen dramatically so it's only natural the blade sucks now. It just cuts :|

I think A because he didnt use any A or S rank jutsu but he was a match for even a ninja like kakashi so he soulndt be B

his giant vortex jutsu is A-rank as seen in my sig

I think the swords power came from it's simplisty. It didn't really have any bells or whistles attached, it was a good, honest blade that if it connected directly with anyone, the sheer weight would cleeve them in two without making too much of a racket. Conbinued with his Hidden Mist No Jutsu, it would be hard to sense where he's coming from, and against ninja of a lesser caliber utterly fatal if they didn't know he was coming. Plus it would leave a nice psychological shock to those that discovered the bodies.

The only other blades that are comparible are the twin blades, otherwise every other weapon has a clunky side effect that makes stealth killing impossible (threading needle requires accaccy to kill like sibon and was more of a terrior weapon. Blast Explodes, Blunt is loud, Sharkscale is inefficent at killing quickly and the last one requires intense charka control) hence it is a nice simple weapon, does a good job at what it does, doesn't have any bells on it and it's ability to repair itself makes maintainence less of a pain. Simple, but elegent.

like ppl here said, he used that sword because he mastered the silent killing technique. That sword suits him and his abbilities. For the other, their swords were the main abbility, but for zabuza no, he just used it to finish off someone.

You guys really didn't know what Zabuza's blade could do? Alucard?! you of people should know both being a vampire and from the mist...zabuza's blade could regenerate itself... it would use the iron in the victim's blood to rebuild itself.
