Orochimaru wants Mitsuki to find his light and illuminate the darkness.
Via the Mistuki special chapter we've come to the conclusion that Orochi likely doesn't have any ill intent in creating Mitsuki or even sending him off on his merry way.
The Question arises though, why does Orochimaru particularly want Mitsuki to team up with Boruto out of anyone else.
If he just wanted Mitsuki to find friends and learn something about Love and Goodness then he could've just sent him to the Ninja academy and make him befriend anyone.
If he wanted a particular skill for Mitsuki to learn then he would've sent him off to the said instructor via that mission book but instead he not only gave him info on Boruto but rather called Boruto, Mitsuki's Sun.
What is in Boruto that Orochi sees then his usual shtick of chasing the Uchiha, what did he learn from then end of Naruto that changed his whole motive and what does he likely see as a future threat that he wants Mitsuki to prepare for by safeguarding Boruto his SUN.
Seems like Orochimaru learnt something about the Ootsuki or chakra that will likely be important in the future and that he sees Boruto will play a role in it.
A complete 180 from not caring about Naruto at all to literally aiding his son and joining up for some future prospect.
