Why does Naruto want to become a Hokage?

Why does Naruto want to become Hokage? I used to think it was because he wanted to be acknowledged by everyone but ever since the Invasion of Pain arc, it's become pretty pointless. He's known as a hero in Konoha, and currently all the fodders from the other villages are considering him a hero. He's acknowledged, so why does he still want to be Hokage?

That was because they are in war, and for the first part of it Tsunade and A were chilling in the headquarters

Naruto said he wanted to become not just "Hokage" but the greatest Hokage that ever lived, he wants to do everything he can to become stronger so he can protect his friends, the village,. and he also wants to change the world and bring true peace which is what people like Nagato,Konan,Yahiko, wanted. and to prevent the people he care about from dying. but even tho they may die like neji, he carrys on their will and becomes even greater!.

he does not only carry his own dream,also the dreams of nagato and jiraya of bringing an era of peace to the shinobi world,and that can't be accomplished by being a simple jounin,a hokage is a must for that dream to be true.

I dont think so. Hokage is just a title. He is and will be respected as the hero of the war and people will listen to him even if he's only a genin. I doubt anyone will ask him his "rank" after this war anyways! Plus, hokage's should be calm collected and intelligent the same as any good leader of a country. Naruto's "dream" was really just to be acknowledged by people so that he could make friends. At the end of the war I forsee the people wanting Naruto to be Hokage, him accepting it, and then immediately choosing Sasuke to take the position. It would be more than a dream come true for Naruto to always have his Sasuke-kun close at hand....imo

As Hokage he will have the power he needs to at least try.

Plus many others have placed their faith in him, including Tsunade, Nagato, and Chiyo.

He has promised to not only become Hokage, but become the greatest Hokage of all.

achieving peace won't be easy,it's not like preaching values of justice will solve the world problems,he needs to act,and that won't be possible if he's some minor jonin that is under the command of the hokage.
and naruto is not hashirama,hashirama didn't really care about hokage position,unlike naruto who always wanted that.
