In the past I thought people liked Hinata because she was the only kid that liked Naruto before it was cool.

It doesn't imo, I think it is really forced. I don't think Sakura is necessarily the fit for Naruto, but she is a waaay more fitting candidate.

Hinata is one of the most passive characters I've ever seen in anything. I could not see Naruto feeling anything for someone like that.

Her heroism at Pain was cool, but then she went back to being passive once again.

Didn't Hinats in part 1 say he likes girls like her?
