as for the one eye thing, it draws attention to the eye, and i think that allows him to make people think they are going straight threw him. (edit: key word is "think". just an idea.)

This is a guesswork. He might have some marks on the face or an ugly face, that's why he would be wearing mask. The secret would only be revealed if someday we see him without a mask.
