Why does Kakashi have a Worldwide reputation

Why is Kakashi so well known? Hes Mid kage level at best i just dont understand when Pain came to face him.He said he was honoured to meet him but when he killed ninjas like Jiraya and Hanzo he basically didn't give them any respect whatsoever

It just seems to me that Kakashi is well known by a lot of people he seems to be one of the most well known characters in Naruto.The question i want to know is why...

Mainly because of his Sharingan and his '1000' copied jutsus. I'm guessing he got famous over the years during missions and such. Also I believe that particular scene was basically Kishi emphasising it.

because.......he is known as the copy ninja, revered all over the world as the none uchiha that has a sharingan..and is a threat to boot. Noot only that he was a prodigy when he was younger. The fact that he has done missions all over the world and has been one of the most effective shinobi for the leaf, he is seen as a threat, like Minato was seen a threat because he was a very effective in carrying out his mission and slaughtering the enemy and like Kakashi had an odd technique or trait that set him apart

he is well known because he is one of the most powerful shinobi alive. in pretty much everybody's top ninjas list he is in the top 20 and he is also in the top 10 a lot (still alive). on top of this he is a commander in the allied shinobi forces. he is clearly one of the best out there. think of how many ninjas there are and then think about him being definitely in the top 20 and maybe in the top 10. he SHOULD be well known. he is also the next choice for hokage

Kakashi is not one to be underestimated. In all in fights he proven to be a tough opponent. Went blow for blow with zabuza, keeping up with Itachi until he brought out MS, able to stall out Kazuku until reinforcements came, managed to do damage and get precious intel from Pain, and now he is keeping up with tailed beasts, and 6 gates guy.

He probably made he name through the war, the different missions he done. Everone in naruto realizes that even though he is just a jonnin rank, his true skill is kage level. that is why he is first in line to be hokage if anything happen to the blonde with the huge boobs.

The reason is because he is known to have copied more than a thousand jutsu, that is no small feat for a shinobi. He always carry out his missions successfully, even S-rank missions. During the story we've never seen Kakashi failing a mission. Of all the enemies he's fought, they either praised him or feared him. So other shinobi carry out his name through villages, and kages warn them about strong shinobis. Pein was honored to see Kakashi for these reasons. His status and hypes in the shinobi world and putting a dent in their plans. Remember when Kakashi took out Deidara's arm, that alone put Kakshi in their bingo book for almost killing Deidara. And then The akatsuki learned of Hidan and Kakuzu death, they related it to Kakashi's doing and Naruto. So all these compliments gave Kakashi the respect he deserved. I wouldn't be surprise if Pein told the others to be very careful when fighting with Kakashi. Remember they even complimented how strong thery were. (Naruto chapter 353). so I think that's why, if that helped.
