Among the Naruto manga and Anime community? It's seems a lot of people attribute Itachi for the sacrifice he made and place full ownership to him, but forget he wouldn't have made it halfway through the mission If Obito were not a co-conspirator.
Itachi only requested Obito to help so he could keep an eye on him and infiltrate Akatsuki. He could indeed do it w/o Obito and probably would have if not for that. After all, Hiruzen, Koharu, Danzo, and Homura- people well aware of Itachi's abilities at age 13, believed he could. And, it's not a matter of being able to take out the Uchiha at night. Itachi has the capability to do so, but with Obito it just went much faster. Doing the job quickly was better, considering they had a few hours max to take out perhaps several hundred or more shinobi. With the vast majority of those Uchiha being in the Police Force according to the databook. Think about how long it would take for Itachi to go to every single building and eliminate them in a few hours time.
People attribute it to Itachi because he was the one who decided to do it instead of letting Konoha do it. Primarily because he didn't want the Uchiha to be known globally as traitors that they were, he wanted to save the one innocent Uchiha he could (Sasuke), and prevent further conflict. Obito was just one of the main contributors to the problem due to the Kyuubi attack. He just set the flame for the Uchiha-village problems even moreso, but he wasn't directly involved in any decision-making regarding the Uchiha and village matters and how to handle it.
Manga didn't specifically say he could do it own his own, and even Sasuke said as skilled as Itachi was, he couldn't take down the Leaf Police alone. Which is why he enlisted the help of who he thought was Madara, plus Obito knew he was a spy, not much to spy on, on Itachi's part.Itachi only requested Obito to help so he could keep an eye on him and infiltrate Akatsuki. No. In the anime, they show Obito kill the guards and then he disappears (he continues to kill off-screen). Itachi kills some random Police Force members in the streets. But, this is filler and should be disregarded considering Kishimoto had no influence.Itachi also killed the civilians while Obito handled the police.
Yes, this was the same Sasuke who thought he had won his fight within the first 40 seconds and didn't notice it was a clone until the bunshin pointed to where Itachi was sitting. And also the same Sasuke who didn't notice the fight was staged. The very same Sasuke who didn't see his brother in action bar seeing him in the forest do a few basic kunai/shuriken tricks. The same one who was 8 at the last time he saw Itachi in genuine action. :/Manga didn't specifically say he could do it own his own, and even Sasuke said as skilled as Itachi was, he couldn't take down the Leaf Police alone. I know that "traitors" most often times has a negative connotation, but it doesn't have to here. You had me until you said the bold.It would have been perfect if you didn't say that.
Obito was mentioned in Part one. Kakashi visited his grave. U_U It was around the time Yugao was visting Hayate's. Maybe after Hiruzen's death and while the village was being rebuilt.Because Madara/Obito wasn't created by Kishi when Itachi first came
Good piont.I made my prevoius post thinking that you weren't thinking of how bad the Uchiha were treated and only faulted them for attempting the coup. But good explanation.No. In the anime, they show Obito kill the guards and then he disappears (he continues to kill off-screen). In the manga, we don't see who killed who, however...
In the databook it says that the bast majority are members. So, over 50%. We can assume that they divided the clan pretty evenly. Plus, it's implied that they just went for it tbh. I doubt they specifically planned out which one of them would be going to which house and buildings. They probably just divided it into general areas and continued until it was finished.

If the elders and Hokage who have seen Itachi in action think that he alone is enough, then he is.
He didn't want them to touch the village, that worked seeing as how he was assigned to get Naruto and he used that to his advantage... he never got Naruto when he had the chance to easily do so. It was worth it in this regard. It basically prevented Akatsuki from finishing plans sooner.

The Uchiha are traitors to Konoha no matter how you look at it. They had there reasons for the coup, I get that.
Just as Obito and Itachi are traitors to the Uchiha clan and there is no sugar-coating that.
It just depends on one's own perspective on who's betrayal was "worth it".
How do you know that? So you just think Kishimoto decided to make Obito the one who was behind the Kyuubi attack/who was using Madara's name in like chapter 200 or something? Which was years after chapter 1 came out that mentioned the Kyuubi attack?Because Madara/Obito wasn't created by Kishi when Itachi first came
Yeah, and Kakashi also spoke of him in chapter 8 when he was talking to team 7 after the bell excercise. He told them about his friend who was killed in action, who's name is on the memerial stone.Obito was mentioned in Part one. Kakashi visited his grave. U_U It was around the time Yugao was visting Hayate's. Maybe after Hiruzen's death and while the village was being rebuilt.
You're assuming, nothing insinuated he could take them down alone at the time, and the manga clearly drew the line at such. Uchiha weren't fodders, and Itachi would have ran out of stamina and overused his MS doing it alone eventually, and wound up dead or seriously injured. Which is why he caught Obito snooping around the Village, and enlisted his assistance for exchange of his services in the akatsuki, but Itachi not knowing, Obtio already knew what his true motive for joining the Akatsuki was actually for. He did delay Naruto being captured, but still helped in the capture of Roshi and other jins, but he made up for it by bringing down Kabuto.No. In the anime, they show Obito kill the guards and then he disappears (he continues to kill off-screen). Like? Because we all know Obitos sharignan are elite.Obito humbly gave Itachi a praise for a feat that he can't accomplish on his own.
