Why does everyone think Itachi is scared of Jiraya

So lately I've seen a lot of people say that Itachi was scared of Jiraiya and I really don't think this is right. The one time they fought yes it is true that Itachi ran away and had later said that He and Kisame didn't have a chance but it is extremely likely that Itachi said this so Kisame wouldn't go back and try to fight.

I find this much more likely because it is proven that he only wanted to go to Konoha to scare Danzo and Jiraiya's presence would have been a great way to leave without suspicions.

Of course this is just my opinion but it makes the most sense to me. Yes Jiraiya is strong. Yes Itachi is strong. But we really don't know which is stronger unless we had a 1v1 written by kishi. Please tell me what you think, I hope you liked it and have a good day/night.

I think that at the time Kishi just wanted Jman to seem like some invincible sage that is even stronger than two legendary S-class criminals

In my opinion though, Jiraiya is stronger than Itachi, but it's extremely debatable

It was stated by someone that had absolutely no desire to fight Konoha... Wouldn't be the first time someone said something blatantly false in the manga and fans/haters took it as a manga fact. I'm just saying I doubt Itachi was afraid and Itachi haters really need to start to use their brains. same goes for the Itachi 'fappers' that fail to use logic.

Yes, its very possible that Itachi ran away because he was a good guy. I dont think Itachi was "scared" of him, but it was more like he respected Jiraiya. Anyone saying he was scared doesn't have manga proof to back it up. As has already been mentioned, the only thing we've got is Itachi telling Kisame that they were no match for him, using Amaterasu to escape the toads stomach, and running away. Everything else is just speculation. I think he liked Jiraiya since he was at least trying to hook him up with some pretty girls

Because when someone hits that level of power, everyone begins to use the slightest of things to make it appear as though Demigodly and above figures have some sort of weakness (i.e. Itachi "fearing" Jiraiya, Kaguya being "afraid" of Naruto, Sasuke having "crappy" amounts of chakra, almost on par with a sick Itachi (the BS they pull to try and reason that out is unbearable), etc...)

Ofc he wasnt. Kishi only put that in for the following reasons.

So naruto wont get caught
So kisame won't fight.
The only man itachi was afraid of was Guy lol
