I normally don't post on here but rather look at all of the other theories, but I've been noticing that a lot of people have been treating the possibility that Kaguya is the Reaper Death Spirit as a fact. When it comes to information regarding her life post eating the fruit, we know essentially nothing about her. So we can only really base things off of appearances.
Let's look at Kaguya
Some of the defining details that are consistent between all four frames that she is shown in:
- Delicate jaw line
- Two marks above her eyes
- Very long, straight hair
- Seemingly either a Byakugan-esque eye or just a really light colored eye
- A more slender build
- Sharp nails
- "Horns" that are large, but appear to be rather flat
- A robe that opens up very high on the chest almost where the neck is and decorated
Now for the Reaper Death Spirit
From all three points in the series the spirit was shown, the appearance of it was very consistent
- Strong, masculine jaw line
- Relatively long, very shaggy hair
- Small, piercing light pupils on black eyes
- Very broad build, very thin though as you can see all of its ribs
- Sharp nails
- Sharp teeth
- Long Tounge
- Two rounded horns
- Plain white robe that is open very low on the chest allowing you to see the ribs and sometimes even the stomach
As you can probably tell, even though at a first glance the two seem to have many dead giveaway similarities, on closer inspection, they are not as alike as you might think.
- Their facial structures and eyes are completely different
- Both of them have long hair, but Kaguya's hair is as long as she is tall and it is seemingly perfectly straight while the RDS has very shaggy that isn't the full length of its body
- The RDS is very broad compared to Kaguya and her slender build
- From the side shot of Kaguya, we can clearly see that her horns were more flat on the sides compared to the RDS who has rounded horns that bend as they go up
-Their clothes are different, and that wouldn't mean too much but we have to remember that Kaguya is a female. I highly doubt that she would wear her robe in any way that would open all the way down to her stomach, even if she is immortal.
To me, that is more than enough evidence to say that Kaguya did not end up becoming the Reaper Death Spirit. But all of the similarities would still suggest that there is something that ties these two together. I think the answer lies in Hagoromo's brother.

- His hair is shaggier than Kaguya's and is not the full length of his body
- He is sporting a simple while robe while he fights the Juubi
- He does indeed have horns

I think that Hagoromo and his brother were successful in sealing the Juubi inside of themselves but then the brother became overwhelmed with his new-found abilities, whatever they might have been. I think his arrogance lead to his inevitable conflict with Hagoromo where he lashed out against both his mother, Kaguya, and his brother. Naturally, the SO6P and Kaguya bested him in combat, but his deeds were unforgivable. Afraid that his brother would wait until he was old to strike again, Hagoromo had to make sure that his brother could not threaten him again. He, with the help of Kaguya, punished his brother by performing a ritual making him into the Reaper Death Spirit.

- Based off appearance alone, it is possible that the brother of Hagoromo is the RDS
- If he is the RDS, it would happen from him doing some sort of unforgivable act and it being bestowed upon him as a punishment from the Sage and Kaguya.
