Naruto being saved by Kurama's Chakra is irrelevant, seeing how most of his chakra is used to keep the seal in place. Without the seal, Naruto would be able to use more Chakra, his vast amount of chakra due to being an Uzumaki. He also would have had better Chakra control. So without Kurama he would be a better shinobi, of course not as good when he uses Kurama's Chakra. But you can't say Kurama saved him, when without Kurama sealed in him, Naruto would have been able to use more of his own Chakra with better control thus not putting himself in the situation that he needed to be saved by the 9 tails chakra.

By the way kids only reason naruto used the fox's 1 tail chakra cloak mode was because sasuke used his curese seal lv 1 on him. Remember that kids, what goes around comes around. Would have owned sasuke if the fox allowed for more chakra and pushed in 2 tail mode to combat curse seal lv 2.

Thanks also when Sasuke's chidori canceled Naruto's Rasengan, he was using his curse mark with that chidori and Naruto wasn't using any of Kurama's Chakra. If sasuke didn't use the extra power from the curse mark, the attacks wouldn't have canceled, but Naruto's Rasengan going through his Chidori ending the fight right there.
