Why does every main character in a anime or manga have to be the strongest

Its so that the character can triumph over any conflict put in front of them and surpass anyone with the right determination.

Its totally overused, but its what inspires people in real life to have more of a determination like said main character.

Because they're the main character... there has to be a villain, and there has to be someone to stop the villain. They have to be strong to fulfill their duties as protagonists. Of course letting Madara F Naruto up will cause a serious ruckus :rofl:

Plot obviously; I'd prefer if they did sometimes kill the main character, giving the chance for someone else to take that position.
