Why does canon or filler matter outside of versus matches or debates about plot?

He sure will not say its fake but he would say its 'another' story.

Another thing you need to know if manga told someone story/back story in black and white(only words) then manga gave the story an animation and added animation, it can be justify. Like you said here "known to have happened". At least the characters had 60/70% of their story covered in manga.

But the problem comes when certain characters only had no more than 10% of their story being covered in the manga. E.g, all backstories about Otsutsuki family.

You cant say their anime story was known to actually happen. They showed Tenji as Kaguya's husband but Manga never gave a glimpse about Kaguya's husband. Even Databook never recognized him as Kaguya's husband. Kaguya and her offspring and future successors stories were so loose that any bad attempts in telling their backstory will end in disaster and contradiction upon contradiction.

But Kishi Kishi will tell you it just 'another' story nor canon nor fake

The reason I included if done well was for situations like the Kaguya backstory arc, it was sloppy at times. Like you said, since the manga provided virtually no backstory for Kaguya, without a proper framework it wasn't written well by someone who wasn't Kishi. I think it could have worked. We already knew about Kaguya, her sons, and Ashura and Indra. We did get a general story. I still enjoyed it and prefer it over nothing, but it had definite issues.

Finally, somebody sees sense. Toxic fan culture teaches others to ruin their own media for themselves because of some imagined 'wasn't entirely Kishimoto' reasoning. Naruto manga was NEVER 100% Naruto. He didn't even invent the idea of Sasuke.

Writing my dissertation on this subject. +Rep OP.

Not when you only have 8 Canon episodes and 34 filler eps in one year :lol

Then you have the fact that the filler eps have better Animation quality than the actual canon eps :lol

The still help with world building, which is near-dead in the manga.

Weak reasoning. Even if you valued a fictional timeline over entertainment value, Kishimoto himself has contradicted his own continuity.

2 wrongs don't make a right. Just because you pointed out another example of poor writing doesn't mean i have to accept more poor writing.

I guess I just value enjoying it as entertainment rather than putting the series in some objective timeline like it's some non-fiction history. Distinction between filler/canon is pretty irrelevant when we're just talking about our favourite shows.

Some people can't get past that and I get it, but I do believe it's an internet-taught habit.
