This isn't a thread geared towards saying one small thing, but collating your thoughts into something big. Just letting you now to think about this before you post.

Why is it you watch or read this type of thing? What makes you more interested in the japanese entertainment rather than the english? Is it the themes that they use, or the animation, or the fact that they're willing to do things much more crazier than what a more "western" audience would enjoy?

====================

I personally think anime (don't read too much manga) is quite different, being open to more themes than just what would normally be on TV. Generally I find japanese entertainment much easier to connect to emotionally; something that draws my presence to watch it more and more. I feel it's also made me much open to more genres of this sort of thing. Having started with typical anime like Naruto, Yugioh and Pokemon which generally falls into the Shounen genre, opens me up to a hell of a lot more. Nowadays I'm into more depth things like romance and adventure, rather than two dudes juking it out to see who wins.

Because, its a nice way to fill time and talk about to people about certain episodes etc, it also expresses my emotions alot more and feels like I'm actually involved

I read it(Naruto) because I've read so much of it...i feel if i stop i'll miss the whole story's point.
I watch anime (rarely) because of the high school nostalgia or the fact that japanese make good thrillers and I'm too much of a coward to watch the real-life movies T.T

I like some american cartoons too...like Dexter's Laboratory....or Duck Dodgers... XD

It amuses me.

Been watching Naruto since I was a kid and reading for a while, if I stop reading, I'm going to miss the whole point of the story, as someone stated.

I love the fights, how a theme plays out through the entire series, and Japanese culture is dope.

I suppose I should really reiterate on the point of this topic, as to why you prefer japanese entertainment over the english.
Because, it relates more to human emotion and expressions. Meaning I can feel more emotion in the shows or when I read, its like a bond. It can also go beyond limits but still keep amusing me
