I lost all respect for him the moment he said that he wanted to destroy Konoha. Then, he decided not to after Hashi's/Itachi's tnj, so now I'm indifferent towards him. What he does in the future will decide whether I respect him or not.

He doesn't sit back and let things happen. He takes action and does whatever is necessary to accomplish his goals.

Also for how much he cherishes his friends and family. He lost his way when he put itachi and his clan ahead of everything In pursuit of revenge but he has overcome The curse of hatred himself, with the help of the previous hokages and itachi's final parting words.

Also how Kishimoto presented him throughout the manga. His accomplishments in this war arc alone leave very few ahead of him. Character development at its finest
