Being the lazy man that I am, I will quote myself from another thread.
"I don't really mind Sasuke. And as others have stated, I do not hate characters, I merely dislike some, with Kabuto at the top of that particular list.
However, I must say I find Sasuke rather obnoxious at the moment. He was one of my favorite characters during Chunin exams - He had his ego, he was talented and he was arrogant - but he had removed the stick up his ass and acted normally around others. That was a very nice mix of personality traits.
I didn't really understand why he left for Orochimaru though. Nothing says he couldn't gain his oh-so-desired power the normal way. He was already an ace ninja, why go so far? I know, I know, he's got a traumatic childhood and that's awful, but the fact that he didn't even care about those who risked their lives for him was just revolting. He isn't the only one with a bad background in Naruto, that's for sure.
So what is my point? What do I think of Sasuke? Well, I don't really know myself. Having been one of my favorite characters, it's hard to see him fall so hard. As of now, I think he's just acting like a spoiled brat - He wants to destroy an entire village for the deeds commited by three people. Not only that, but he ignores the fact that Itachi said that Tobi had helped him with the purge of the Uchiha clan.
"But Thane, you sexy sexy man, Sasuke just wants revenge! He's entitled to it! Surely you can see that he's right?!"
Well, that's a pretty dumb argument. In fact, the only argument that is dumber than that is those who share Pain's philosophy - which was basically the same as the nuclear deterrence theory during the Cold War. The worst kind of peace there ever was.
Let me give you an example: Your father is killed, you kill the murdurer several years later. That is still a crime. No matter how much you justify it, you just killed another human being. Now, if that murdurer was also a parent, you have done the exact same thing without having accomplished anything.
Not only that, but Sasuke wants to kill EVERYONE IN THE VILLAGE. We're talking MASS MURDER on a huge scale. The vast majority of the villagers didn't even know about the Uchiha's coup d'etat plans - hell, some people weren't even born then. But Sasuke wants to kill them anyway. That is sick and twisted. There is no justice in that, that is not even revenge. That's casting blame with horrible consequences.
So, at the moment, I find Sasuke annoying. I hope he returns "to the light" (God how I hate that term), because honestly, I liked him far, far better when he was Naruto's grumpy pal with a tough demeanor and attitude.
I really hope he's pulling an Itachi, trying to sabotage Tobi's plans undercover."
